Honey’s Hope Brings Joy and Comfort to Knolls of Oxford Residents

May 27, 2026.

Honey’s Hope, a local nonprofit organization, recently delivered 13 lifelike dolls and weighted stuffed animals to residents at Knolls of Oxford.  The dolls were given to several residents in the Memory Care community where they were received with smiles and joy.

Beyond bringing joy, research has shown that doll therapy can help reduce agitation, anxiety, and wandering in individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.  Having something to hold, nurture, and care for can provide a sense of comfort, security, and purpose.

Honey’s Hope was founded in 2022 with a simple mission: to bring love and comfort to those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.  Founder Beth Gowins recognized a need and believed that something as simple as a doll could make a meaningful difference.  Armed with a few dolls and joined by some friends, she made the organization’s first delivery in February of 2022.  Since then, Honey’s Hope has shared many dolls with care communities throughout the region.

Cofounder Valerie Coupe said, “There’s nothing like placing a doll in a resident’s arms.  At first, they are surprised by the gift and that it’s theirs to keep.  Then comes the smiles, the look of pure joy…  It’s something you never forget.  I always walk out of those facilities feeling blessed.”

More recently, the organization has expanded its ministry by providing weighted dog and cat stuffed animals for residents who have fond memories of beloved pets.  These furry companions offer another meaningful way to provide emotional support and connection.

Honey’s Hope relies on the generosity of its donors to continue bringing comfort to those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.  Every doll and weighted companion is given free of charge to the resident and care facility.  If you would like to learn more about their mission, have a group that would like to engage with the delivery process, or partner with them through purchasing an item from its Amazon Wish List you can visit the organization’s website at honeyshope.org or their Facebook page.
